BSG (Bible Study Group) could be described as an evangelical, spirit-filled, doctrinally conservative fellowship of believers. BSG is a part of the larger organization called SOLID GROUND.
EVANGELICAL “Evangelical” is a word that describes lots of different kinds of churches who have this one thing in common: They proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and believe it is essential to do so.
SPIRIT-FILLED Solid Ground teaches the importance of surrendering to God by allowing His Spirit to lead to the place of living under God’s loving authority in obedience. We recognize that we clearly have a choice! That choice is to either gratify our sinful nature or gratify the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:16 -17). It is impossible to do both. By gratifying the Holy Spirit we draw close to God. It is by the Holy Spirit that we come to intimacy with God and experience the Holy Spirit’s power in our lives. It is by living in and with the Spirit that we move into the abundant life that Christ Jesus has called us to live.
The church is a living organism. In the physical body, the hand moves when the brain says to. So too the members of Jesus’ spiritual body takes direction from Him as our Head. Jesus gives each member gifts and talents, making Himself alive within His church. He equips His people to love one another, and to serve in unity His kingdom. This is Body Life.
DOCTRINALLY CONSERVATIVE To say that Solid Ground is “doctrinally conservative” has nothing to do with a particular political viewpoint or an emphasis on or a rejection of any part of the Old and/or New Testament. Being doctrinally conservative simply means that Solid Ground is not interested in novelty or “flash” when it comes to interpreting the Bible. There is no effort to “re-define church” as it is presented in the Scriptures. We strive to be faithful to the timeless truths taught in God’s word.
God challenges us in the Bible: Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful (Hebrews 10:23). The church is to be defined by the fact that there are certain truths it confesses. A fellowship of Christ-followers (the Church) stands for something. The Statement of Faith that Solid Ground holds tells you about what we consider to be the core truths of the Bible.
We pray this ministry approach helps you move beyond religion, beyond doctrines, beyond rules, beyond rituals, and into a life-changing experience of being intimately connected with Christ at the very core of your being — Solid Ground is committed to the sole focus of the Scriptures and keeping Christ Jesus at the heart and core of all we do. We believe that this focus and effort represents pure evangelism, making disciples and leading individuals into lives of authentic Christianity!
